Artistic Activities 2001-2005
The tradition of the artistic activities of the Faculty have their roots in the 1920s – the times of
emerging and shaping of the new Polish state and our institution.
At those times
Among those artist were: Henryk Opieński, Stanisław Wiechowicz, Feliks Nowowiejski, Tadeusz Szeligowski, Władysław Raczkowski and a priest Wacław Gieburowski, Ph,D.
Stanisław Wiechowicz and Wacłam Gieburowski were the teachers who taught conducting to Prof. Edmund Maćkowiak and Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz, who in turn passed on their knowledge and skills to their own students among whom were the present professors of our Faculty.
In the years of 2001-2005, The Faculty of Choir Conducting, Music Education and Church Music, together with the Choir Chair and The Department of Church Music were the initiators and organizers of over sixty concerts, including the series “Teachers and their choirs” and “In memoriam”. The series “Teachers and their choirs” aims to present the artistic achievements of choir master teachers and their groups. The series “In memoriam” presents the works of the composers who actively participated in the life of our institution and our city.
The concert tradition of our Faculty also includes annual concerts of the faculty bands, choirs directed by the teachers and other occasional concerts connected with such events as the Papal Days, the Lent period, the Christmas time where both teachers and students give performances.
The most important artistic achievements of the Faculty consist in the recording four compact disc, two of them dedicated to the works of Feliks Nowowiejski, a professor of the Academy between 1920 – 1927;

CD Boże Narodzenie Feliksa Nowowiejskiego (Feliks Nowowiejski’s Christmas) was recorded by the students and teachers of the Faculty in 2003 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the composer’s birth. It contains the music connected with the Christmas time: Msza Pasterska Op. 24 No 1 performed by the Faculty Choir conducted by Antoni Grochowalski with the organ accompaniment of Sławomir Kamiński, nine Christmas carols performed by Maria Pawlaczyk (soprano) and Elżbieta Karolak (organ) and two organ fantasies: Boże Narodzenie w Polsce Op. 31 No 4 performed by Elżbieta Karolak and Boże Narodzenie w prastarym Kościele Mariackim Op. 31 No 3 performed by Sławomir Kamiński. The publisher is Towarzystwo im. Feliksa Nowowiejskiego w Poznaniu in cooperation with the Fundacja 750-lecia Lokacji Poznania.
3. CD Feliks Nowowiejski Ojczyźnie recorded in 2004 by the Faculty Choir conducted by Antoni Grochowalski.
